POLICIES:

·         Cavy Care Inc. is a true NO KILL shelter.

Many shelter must practice euthanasia because of space limitations or budget restraints.  Many shelters will only take animals that are good adoptable candidates and "Claim" they are a no kill shelter -in truth they are not taking any type of animal that may not be adoptable because of behavior issues or medical issues.

·         Here at CCI we take guinea pigs no matter their condition, if we have the space. We provide sanctuary care if they are un-adoptable for medical problems or are advanced in age. We provide care until they are able to be adopted, whatever the case. We will never knowingly adopt out a sick or compromised animal. We are a true no kill shelter.

"We never break up families where ever possible."

It is  our policy to not break up families, pairs, or whatever the configuration when they are surrendered. When the time is right they find the right home together. The guinea pigs welfare comes first.

Where ever possible we will attempt to keep the original names of the guinea pig as they came in to us with, but remember the new owner more than likely are going to change their names just as "you" gave them names when you brought them home..

If you wish to know if your guinea pig was adopted your are more than welcome to call and we can only tell you if they have or not. No other information will be given out. We do not have the staff to call you. Once you have surrendered your guinea pig they become our responsibility and only our responsibly. You will no long have any say in their placement. So please make sure this is what you want to do. Once you have surrendered to Cavy Care Inc you will not be able to adopt from us again in the future.

"We are never going to hassle you about having to surrender your guinea pig!"

We are not going to hassle you about surrendering, ask questions of you or make you feel bad because you are giving up this animal. You are doing the responsible thing by bring them to a shelter instead of dumping them. If you are able, we ask for a $5 donation per animal. But it is a voluntary donation.  Please call to make an appointment. We would hate to miss you.

We are NOT financed by federal, local or government.

We are only supported through donations and adoption fees. We are solely staffed by  volunteers and we pay our vet bills just like everyone else with as much consideration as the vet can afford. They have families to feed too.

To adopt you must be 18 or older or have a legal parent or guardian who will be assisting in their care. We are looking for children over seven years of age to adopt and are at least fourteen to adopt a baby guinea pig under sixteen weeks. Appointments are set after the competition of pre-adoption forms either emailed or completed over the phone once that is done then an appointment is set.

We do not provide guinea pigs to day care programs or school programs as in classroom pets.

Jasper

We are here and committed to the guinea pig community NOT mills and breeders.  We DO NOT provide breeder referrals or condone breeding of any kind. We have placed over 7000 guinea pig in 12 years, we have a right to our opinion.

Petco is not a licensed shelter. Leave animals at shelters that are licensed to care for and provide the proper screening for diseases so that the animals  you take home is what you where expecting and not coming to you with a lot of vet bills..
